1. START PUMP. The START PUMP SWITCH.
To be used when AC electrical power is not available. In ON position the pump supplies fuel for APU or engine start. The pump is located in the right main tank fuel system.
2. IGN. ENGINE IGNITION SWITCH.
In position GRD START & CONTIN, high energy ignition is available on both igniters if the start switch and fuel shut-off lever are on. With start switch off, low energy ignition to one igniter only is available for continuous operation. This position is used for engine start, but also during other conditions:
- All take off and landings.
- Prior to selecting engine anti-ice on.
- In heavy rain.
- In turbulence.
- If bird collision hazard exists.
- All single engine operations.
In position IGN OVRD, the start switch and fuel shut-off lever switch are by-passed and high energy ignition is available on both igniters. To increase service life, the ignition override shall only be used for a period of 2 minutes then allow a cooling period of 3 minutes. Ignition override shall be used:
- During take off and landing on wet and slushy runways or in heavy rain or snow, to prevent flameout.
- Before activation of engine anti-ice system when engine inlet icing is already encountered.
- When necessary to accomplish a quick engine relight in case of flameout.
- During inflight restart of engine.
3. START. Left and Right ENGINE START SWITCH.
4. FUEL HEAT.
Switched momentarily to ON position starts timer for 60 s cycle of the fuel heater valve.
In AUTO valve is controlled by timer in cycles of 60 s on and 30 s off as long as clogged filter is sensed by the differential pressure switch.

The system shall be used on ground before takeoff when fuel temperature is 0ºC or below. It may also be used during flight on Commanders discretion.
- Set FUEL HEAT switches momentarily to ON.
- Check FUEL HEAT ON lights to come on (blue lights on the annunciator).
- Check fuel temperature to rise.
- Heat cycle lasts for one minute.
Before applying takeoff thrust (inflight before commencing final approach).
- Check FUEL HEAT lights to be OFF.
Fuel heat must not be used during takeoff and final approach as this will result in lower than specified max engine thrust.
5. PNEU PRESS.
Indicates pneumatic pressure available for engine start and ice protection. 36 psi is minimum pressure for engine start.
