- 1. VOR1 (captains side)course select knob/readout.
- The same course will be displayed by the course arrow on the left RDI.
- The autopilot will only lock on to VOR1 in ILS or VOR LOC mode.
- 2. VOR1 frequency select knob/readout.
- When setting a VOR or ILS frequency, the corresponding DME frequency will be
automatically set.
- 3. Flight Director (FD) mode selector.

- 4. Remote heading select knob.
- Provides remote control of the heading select index on both RDI.
- 5. FD pitch trim knob.
- Controls the pitch command bars on both FD horizons when the mode selector
is in position F/I or RADIO AUTO (until glide path capture). Used to set any desired
pitch attitude between 15° nose up and 15° nose down. Normal position is always
full nose up.
- 6. VOR2 frequency select knob/readout.
- The same course will be displayed by the course arrow on the right RDI.
- 7. VOR2 (copilots side)course select knob/readout.

FLIGHT DIRECTOR OPERATING MODES.
- OFF
- Command bars are biased out of view. FD in standby mode.
- F/I (Flight Instruments)
- Command bars display roll command to acquire and hold the selected heading and
pitch command to maintain a fixed pitch attitude as set with the FD pitch trim wheel.
- RADIO AUTO
This mode to be selected only when inside VOR or localizer coverage in order to
avoid false capture.
- 1. FD armed for VOR/LOC and GP capture, but remains in F/I mode until approaching
selected VOR radial or localizer beam.
- 2. When the course deviation bar on the RDI shows less than approx. 1/3 dot
on the VOR and 2 dots on LOC, the roll command bar will display command to intercept and hold
selected VOR radial or localizer beam.
- 3. After localizer capture, the pitch command bar will, at 1/3 dot fly-up when approaching
from below and 1 1/3 dot fly-down when approaching from above, display a pitch-over
command for 20 seconds, followed by command to hold the glide path.
- RADIO MAN
- FD immediately provides roll command to hold selected localizer beam, and pitch
command to follow the glide path.
- G/A(Go Around)
- The mode selector will automatically go from any position except OFF to G/A
position, if the palm switch on either throttle is actuated.
- The roll command bar will display command to maintain a wings level attitude.
- The pitch command bar displays speed command.
- G/A mode can also be manually selected at any time.
- This mode is used also during take off, and provides a pitch up command
of 20°.
